Protecting Notre Dame's Information

In June 2014, several teams within the OIT coordinated an upgrade of the Notre Dame data center firewall that protects the University’s IT services. The new firewall included a new design that enhanced the reliability of IT services hosted in the Notre Dame data center. Again this year, the campus reported no major security incidents. Together with the Office of General Counsel, the OIT implemented a new eDiscovery system that allows General Counsel to gather the files necessary to support any litigation their team manages. The OIT also partnered with Campus Utilities to review and improve security of the campus industrial control systems.

The Information Security team started several new initiatives to further protect Notre Dame, including a review and update of the campus credit card processing infrastructure and a new program to educate campus about the dangers of phishing.
